Love in the Wind

Love in the Wind by Elizabeth Goddard

Synopsis:

Sailing is Maddie Cramer’s escape.

Now she’s counting on it to bring her closer to the biological father she’s just met. But her chances of winning the regatta—and his approval—are in jeopardy unless she can find a new crewmate. Enter Grady Stone, a perfect fit for Maddie’s crew in more ways than one.

Maddie and Grady grow close as they spend time together on the water. But Maddie, wary of emotional entanglement, guards her heart closely. And Grady’s here only to help Maddie win the race, then he’s off to a new job. The day of the race will test their ability to sail together—and the trueness of their love.

Thoughts:

Love in the Wind is a delightful love story!  I loved the main characters, Maddie Cramer and Grady Stone.  They both had such strength, but their pasts left them vulnerable as well. Their emotional and romantic journey felt very natural and was a pleasure to read. I also enjoyed the beautiful setting and the sailing that was wonderfully detailed.  Love in the Wind is a great story and a perfect afternoon read!

A Broken Kind of Beautiful

A Broken Kind of Beautiful

A Broken Kind of Beautiful by Katie Ganshert

Synopsis:

Sometimes everything you ever learned about yourself is wrong.

Fashion is a fickle industry, a frightening fact for twenty-four year old model Ivy Clark. Ten years in and she’s learned a sacred truth—appearance is everything. Nobody cares about her broken past as long as she looks beautiful for the camera. This is the only life Ivy knows—so when it starts to unravel, she’ll do anything to hold on. Even if that means moving to the quaint island town of Greenbrier, South Carolina, to be the new face of her stepmother’s bridal wear line—an irony too rich for words, since Ivy is far from the pure bride in white.

If only her tenuous future didn’t rest in the hands of Davis Knight, her mysterious new photographer. Not only did he walk away from the kind of success Ivy longs for to work maintenance at a local church, he treats her differently than any man ever has. Somehow, Davis sees through the façade she works so hard to maintain. He, along with a cast of other characters, challenges everything Ivy has come to believe about beauty and worth. Is it possible that God sees her—a woman stained and broken by the world—yet wants her still?

Thoughts:

A Broken Kind of Beautiful is a poignant story of hurt, hope, and healing. As I read this compelling story, the characters stepped from the pages and into my heart. I loved each of them and longed to offer comfort, as the emotional pain they endured was heartrending. Each broken in their own way, their journey of faith and healing was beautiful and uplifting. The spiritual messages in this book are rich and abundant and there were several quotes that I lingered over and savored.

Katie Ganshert’s writing is lovely and she has written another wonderful story! A Broken Kind of Beautiful is a tender tale of love and a beautiful story of redemption!

Love on the Slopes

Love on the Slopes by Elizabeth Goddard

Synopsis:

Shannon De Croix had big plans, but a serious injury ended her dreams of making the nation’s top ski team.  Now, with her handsome coach, Hudson Landers, at her side, Shannon hopes to compete again.  Though she trusts Hudson’s judgment, she wants to train harder.

Hudson cares too much about Shannon to let her risk her life just for the sake of competition.  He fears that one more fall could destroy her future and break her heart.  Can Shannon and the disabled kids he coaches show him that falling down and getting back up again is what faith and love are all about?

Thoughts:

I love Elizabeth Goddard’s books and this tender love story is one of my favorites!  Love on the Slopes is a beautiful story of faith and love!

Elizabeth Goddard always does a tremendous job of drawing the reader into her stories.  The sights, sounds, and atmosphere in Love on the Slopes were wonderfully depicted!  I envisioned the athletes and their training routines, as well as the ski resort and its beautiful surroundings.

I was quickly captivated by the main characters, Shannon De Croix and Hudson Landers.  I admired their dedication and determination, but also enjoyed their vulnerabilities.  I found their journey throughout the book to be enlightening and loved the way their relationship slowly unfolded.

Love on the Slopes is a charming book and one I highly recommend!  You can order your copy from Amazon, other online retailers, or your favorite bookstore.
