Synopsis:

Can Love Survive When Secrets Collide?

She’d kept her secrets safely hidden—those from her past, and those in the present. Some things, Beth Roberts knows, a lady simply doesn’t share, even in the 1880’s West. The townspeople would never understand. No one ever has.

Jeffery Tucker, a handsome young writer, has kept his own secrets. He doesn’t have a right to pry into Beth’s affairs but finds himself strangely drawn to her and intrigued by the whiff of mystery surrounding her.

Beth knows that one day someone will unravel the threads of her past. And when two men from her past arrive, the truth might just hurt . . . Beth’s future and her heart.

As shadowy memories surface, Beth sketches the scenes she sees and is shocked by what—and who—her illustrations reveal. Dare she risk her heart again?

Thoughts:

Wishing on Buttercups is the second book in Miralee Ferrell’s Love Blossoms in Oregon series. This captivating story imparts a wonderful message. “God looks at the heart, not the outward appearance.”

Wishing on ButtercupsHaving read Blowing on Dandelions, I was eager to continue this series! I loved returning to Baker City, Oregon, and delving deeper into the lives of Beth Roberts and Jeffery Tucker. Both of these characters harbored secrets from their pasts and unanswered questions plagued them. This intriguing storyline, coupled with complex characters, kept me turning the pages and wanting to know more.

I also enjoyed catching up with the other colorful characters who were introduced in Blowing on Dandelions. It was a pleasure to revisit the boardinghouse, which continued to bustle with the activities of its residents.

Miralee Ferrell has penned a story that is full of heart and emotion; one that will draw you in and surround you with comforting hope. I highly recommend Wishing on Buttercups and eagerly await more stories in this wonderful series!

You can order your copy of Wishing on Buttercups from Amazon, other online retailers, or your favorite bookstore.

Great post, Britney! You do such a great job. Thank you! Miralee, do you catch yourself thinking about characters that you have written about or characters you might use as you do your household chores? In other words, do your characters stay with you?

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:26 am #

Thank you, Melanie! Great question! I look forward to Miralee’s answer.

    • Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 12:43 pm #

Hi Melanie, oh yes, absolutely! Especially at night, LOL! Sometimes they get talkative and won’t let me sleep. In fact, in my book The Other Daughter, and in the book I”m working on now, Forget Me Not, I’ve had to get up and write entire scenes in the wee hrs, because I couldn’t shut off their voices until I did–kind of sounds like someone who might need her head examined, huh! Thanks for stopping by, it’s great to see you!

  2. Melissa February 17, 2014 at 9:45 am #

I enjoyed your review! I have read this book and wont be entering the contest. =)
    Thanks for joining the Tour!
Miralee, Where do you get inspiration for the characters in your novels?

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:29 am #

Thank you, Melissa, for hosting the tour. It is such fun to learn more about Miralee, her books, and her writing journey!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 12:45 pm #

Hi Melissa, thank you for stopping by! Most of my characters are simply made up in my head, although I do occasionally take bits and pieces of someone’s personality, or several woven together, to make up a part of a character. I’m very careful not to ever present a person I know factually, though.

  3. Brittany February 17, 2014 at 10:35 am #

    Hi Miralee,
I know that this is the second book in a series. Is the series going to consist of three books? I know that is the going “norm” for book series, but there are a few series of four or more books and I was curious. 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win your book!

    Great review, Britney 🙂

Hi, Brittany! I can’t wait to hear Miralee’s plans for the Love Blossoms in Oregon series!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 12:48 pm #

Hi Brittney, so good to see you here! There will be at least four in this series….3 full-length books, with the next full length novel, Dreaming on Daisies, coming Oct. 1. There will be a novella called Forget Me Not that follows Pastor Seth, who is featured in both books, and it releases in mid to late March on Amazon Kindle and paperback only to start. It may expand beyond that after the first month or so to Nook and other formats.

      • Brittany February 17, 2014 at 2:08 pm #

        Thanks, Miralee! Sounds great!

  4. Jackie McNutt February 17, 2014 at 10:43 am #

    Hi Merilee,
Do authors enjoy blog tours as much as readers? If so why?
    Thank You

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:48 am #

Blog tours are fun, Jackie! Thanks for a great question!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 12:52 pm #

Hi Jackie, I’m glad to hear that readers enjoy blog tours, as that’s certainly our hope. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I certainly do. I like getting to know new readers and interacting. That’s one of the main reasons I asked that this tour be set up with readers asking me questions, instead of simply leaving a comment that they wanted to be included in the drawing. Thank you again for stopping by!

  5. Beth C February 17, 2014 at 10:55 am #

Your covers are so beautiful. How do you pick a cover?

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:50 am #

I agree, Beth! Miralee’s covers are beautiful and I love the flower theme!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 12:55 pm #

Hi Beth, thank you for the sweet compliment on my covers. My publisher is wonderful in that they allow me a lot of input on my covers, but they have a design team that takes my suggestions and turns them into pure art. I get a sample cover and I’m able to make suggestions or tweaks, which I love. This is the most workable company I’ve ever been with or heard of, and I love the freedom they give me to help direct and create the covers. But the team does all the true creative work.

Hi Sarah, thank you for stopping by. I agree, I love Britney’s review, as well. She did a lovely job and I’m so thankful she agreed to host a day on my tour!

I am so enjoying these on my kindle and you know I have to have this in paperback, this is a keeper series for me. Call me old fashioned ! I just love this time period and something about it just draws me in and keeps me reading. I am still a woman born out of time !
Is this your favorite time period ?

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:54 am #

Hi, Linda! I also love having print copies on my shelf! Thank you for stopping by and for sharing on your blog!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 12:59 pm #

Hi Linda, I can’t agree with you more. I enjoy reading a book on my tablet, but if it’s one I truly love, then I enjoy having it on my shelf where I can pick it up again and again. Besides, if everything electronic crashes, I’ll still have books to read by lantern or candles, LOL! Yes, this IS my favorite time period–anywhere from 1865-1890—the years where the West was being developed and pioneers were settling the land. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Miralee Ferrell February 17, 2014 at 2:25 pm #

Hi Britney, thanks so much for hosting me and for your question above…I’ll copy it here for anyone who didn’t see it…”I have heard authors say they were surprised by a character, scene, or other element in their writing. Did you encounter any surprises while you were writing Wishing on Buttercups?”

I’ve had a number of surprises in books that I’ve written…my biggest in this series was when Mrs. Roberts showed up at the boardinghouse. I had no idea when I started writing the first book that she would be part of the story. I’m so glad she made an appearance, as she’s added so much to the fun with her slowly blossoming friendship and ongoing banter with Mrs. Cooper.

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:06 pm #

Thank you so much for visiting with us today, Miralee. How fun to learn that Mrs. Roberts appearance was a surprise! I love the exchanges between Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Cooper and have enjoyed the way their friendship has developed!

  9. bn100 February 17, 2014 at 4:20 pm #

How’d you come up with the title?

    • B. Adams February 17, 2014 at 11:08 pm #

Great question! I love Miralee’s book titles! Miralee will drop by and answer questions again soon, so please come back and visit again!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 18, 2014 at 12:29 am #

Hi! I was laying in bed almost asleep and thinking about the book…the woman who was hurting and wishing for things to change with her mother, and remembering how she used to blow on dandelion fluff and make wishes. The title came to me then, as I envisioned the woman sitting in a grassy field,…. Blowing on Dandelions…..the other two titles were birthed from that one, as we decided to keep a flower theme to go with Love Blossoms in Oregon (series title), and with a little thought and help from friends, the other titles were born. Thanks for asking!

  10. Elizabeth Dent February 17, 2014 at 4:52 pm #

Liz, they can come anytime, anywhere, but the two places that have been the most productive (when I’m stuck) are when I take a walk or am falling asleep. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi! Thanks for the great question and for stopping by to take part! Yes, you can find one of my dogs and one that belonged to my daughter (he died from cancer 3 yrs ago at the age of 8–a beautiful big German Shepherd who is featured on the backdrop of my FB profile page). The other dog in that same picture, a little B&W Border Collie named Dakota, is in another book. One of my daughter’s horse has appeared, as well. At this time I have two dogs and two cats, as I lost my horse to old age this past summer.

    Hey Miralee,

Who is your favorite Christian Fiction Author that you like to read when you are not writing your books??
I plan on buying your two books that you have published. I am so excited and can’t wait for the other ones to come out soon.

    • Miralee Ferrell February 18, 2014 at 12:35 am #

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled you want to buy some of my books….I actually have 8 in print, total. I actually hesitate to mention names of other Christian authors, because I’m close personal friends with a number of them, and I’d hate to name just one, or not name someone who is my friend. But I love a wide variety of genres and authors in Christian fiction…I hope you don’t mind me skirting the question. 🙂

      • hellosommer2013 February 18, 2014 at 1:16 am #

Oh no I don’t mind you doing that. I’m sorry for asking the question. Completely understand. I think that I will wait till your other book forget me not comes out.

How long did it take to write Wishing on Buttercups?Thank you for the opportunity to win.augustlily06(at)aim(dot)com.Have a wonderful week.

    • B. Adams February 21, 2014 at 8:20 pm #

Hi, Emma! Thanks so much for stopping by and asking Miralee a question!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 21, 2014 at 11:50 pm #

Hi,Emma! Thanks for your question. I had to work writing this book into a very hectic schedule, along with edits on book one, Blowing on Dandelions, and starting to write another book, as well as juggling home and life. I think it took me 4-5 months, off and on. If I could write straight through without any interruptions AND knew exactly where I was going at any given time, I could easily do it in 45-60 days, but that never happens. 🙂

  14. Beverly Lytle February 23, 2014 at 11:12 pm #

As readers, we often wish we could meet the author of a book in person. Is there an author you would love to meet, and why?

    • B. Adams February 24, 2014 at 9:58 am #

Hi, Beverly! Thank you so much for stopping by and asking Miralee a question!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 24, 2014 at 11:08 am #

Hi Beverly,I’ve actually had the opportunity to meet many of my favorite authors, but there are two I’ve not met that I’d love to, because I have such a high regard for their work. Francine Rivers and Jan Karon. Both are exceptional authors whose books made an impact on my life. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, Joy! Thank you so much for stopping by and asking Miralee a question!

    • Miralee Ferrell February 24, 2014 at 10:36 pm #

Hi Joy, I’m so glad you found us and asked a question! My favorite thing to do when it’s nice weather (anytime except winter) is ride horses with my daughter….we have awesome trails right here near our home. I also spend time in my flower beds and garden, which is relaxing and gets me away from the computer.

Miralee, Do you use a Mac or PC for your writing?

    • B. Adams February 28, 2014 at 10:25 pm #

Hi, Tammy! Thank you so much for stopping by and asking Miralee a question!

    • Miralee Ferrell March 1, 2014 at 12:31 pm #

Hi Tammy, I’m so glad you stopped by! I’ve never had a chance to own or use a Mac, as they’re a bit out of my price range, but I’ve heard great things about them from writer friends. I’ve always used a PC … right now it’s an Acer laptop, and it does great!
