#BookReview: My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island by Carrie Fancett Pagels

10 Jul

Carrie Fancett Pagels paints a lovely picture of Mackinac Island, making me long to visit and soak up the sights and sounds of island life! The attention to detail and inclusion of actual people and events add authenticity to the narrative, and I delighted in these glimpses into the past. Intertwining mystery and romance, Maude’s Mooring is an enjoyable story with its own special charm, and I look forward to more stories to come in the My Heart Belongs series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. No review was required, and all thoughts expressed are my own.

About the book:

Although the Winds of Mackinac Inn has been in her mother’s family for generations, Maude Welling’s father refuses to let her run it without the guidance of a husband. So she seeks to prove her worth and independence by working incognito as a maid at the Grand Hotel.

Undercover journalist Ben Steffans, posing as a wealthy industrialist, pursues a story about impoverished men chasing heiresses at the famed hotel. While undercover, he becomes attracted to an intriguing maid. By an act of heroism Ben endears himself to the closed-mouthed islanders—including Maude—and he digs deep for his story.

But when scandal threatens, will the growing love between Maude and Ben be scuttled when truths are revealed?

My Heart Belongs in Fort Bliss, Texas is a wonderful story! Erica Vetsch beckons readers to journey back in time and experience life in 1874 West Texas. Alive with historical details and descriptions, I heard the call of the bugle as images of Fort Bliss danced across my mind. Priscilla and Elliot’s story is engaging and entertaining, and I delighted in every word!

My Hearts Belongs in Fort Bliss, Texas begins a new historical destination series from Barbour Books. In the next installment, set to release in March, readers will journey to the Superstition Mountains with Susan Page Davis. I am excited about this new series and look forward to the next adventure!
